With our shop being located in Chicago we certainly see our fair share of Silvertones, Kays, Harmony's and the like. There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of variations of the form too. This Aristocrat is a big one (17" lower bout) and while we've run across a few sunburst ones, we've never before seen one in silver metallic, and it's a stunner. The clear coats of lacquer have given it a warm, slightly golden hue that looks even better in-person. It has a full 25.5" scale and a big, but not too big neck. Action is good up most of the neck though up high it starts to ramp down towards the guitar top. Very playable through the 12th fret. As is common of guitars of this era the pickups are fairly low output but everything is working as it should. As it is clean and all original our instinct is to leave it as-is, as a collectible more than a player. If you plan to give it some stage/studio work it would probably need the pickups to be re-wound. The 3-way toggle switch was broken beyond repair so we had to put in a new one with black switch tip. It's a nice and unique piece that would be a great addition to any collection.
