Introducing the next pedal in the SoloDallas Schaffer Replica lineup: The new Storm 9V.
The original Schaffer-Vega Diversity System (SVDS) was created by the genius mind of Ken Schaffer in 1975. The landmark wireless system was relied upon for its dependability and beautiful tone by nearly every major touring artist of that era.
The audio circuit of the SVDS caused subtle improvements to the tone of an instrument that caught the attention of some of the greatest guitarists, bassists, and studio engineers of the 70s and 80s. For many it became integral to their signature sound, both live and in the studio.
As used by these legendary bands and players:
AC/DC, Aerosmith, Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, Blondie (Chris Stein), Bob Seger, Bootsy Collins, Clarence Clemons, Boston, Rick Derringer, Electric Light Orchestra, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Frank Zappa, The Grateful Dead (Jerry Garcia/Bob Weir), Heart, Kansas, KISS, Nile Rodgers, Peter Frampton, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd (Gilmour/Waters), The Rolling Stones (Richards/Wood/Wyman), Steve Miller, Steven Stills, Steven Van Zandt, Styx, Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty (Mike Campbell), Todd Rundgren, Van Halen (EVH/Mike Anthony), Yes, ZZ Top… and many more.
The Schaffer Replica® (TSR™) is a faithful reproduction of the audio chain of the original Schaffer-Vega Diversity System that has been out of production since the early 80’s. This painstakingly accurate recreation is capable of replicating the elusive tone heard on countless recordings that became known as “The Schaffer Sound.”
The new Storm 9V is the ‘miniature’ implementation of the newly revised Schaffer Tower. It is 9v (center negative, market standard) operated; battery operated (too, market standard); it has a completely new design (derived once again from the original SVDS) and an additional control in the middle called the snap; this being, an original, vintage opto-isolator (a limiter) that comes from the the transmitter X10 in the original systems. It accounts for a good part of why Angus Young fell in love all over again with the Towers.
