Description

Steve Fischer has built guitars sold under both the McPherson and PRS brands. He was integral in helping Paul Reed Smith introduce his initial line of high performance acoustic guitars. Had he and his family been able to adapt to life on the east coast, Steve would likely still be working for PRS. Instead, they returned home to Utah where he has set up his own shop. His love for the classical style, his 'x-fan' top bracing and other innovative build techniques are quickly helping him establish his own brand of high-end acoustics like the 12/15 model offered here.

The Steve Fischer 12/15 model is a 12-fret instrument somewhere between a Grand Concert and a Grand Auditorium in size. It has a body that is 21-1/4" long, 3-3/4" to 4-1/4" deep, an upper bout that is 11-5/8" wide and a lower bout that is 15-1/2" wide. It's design puts the bridge in the center of the lower bout thereby producing a huge, rich tone with extremely responsive playing dynamics. This particular instrument was built with a Lutz Spruce top (hybrid of Sitka and White Spruce), while the back and sides are Brazilian Rosewood. It has a 25-1/4" string scale, a 1-3/4" bone nut and 2-1/4" string spacing at the saddle. It has a Mahogany neck with a comfortable low profile C-shape with depth measurements of .85" at the first fret and .94" at the ninth fret.

This is a very lightly braced instrument and it is loud and very clear-voiced. It is very responsive to your level of attack, so it is easily shifted from subtle and nuanced to loud and thundering! Unlike most full-size 12-fret guitars I've played, it has surprisingly strong bass response without sounding like an over-driven sub-woofer. Please check out the provided sound sample. It plays great too and is setup with 12-fret string heights of 7/64" on the low E side and 5/64" on the high E side.

This guitar is in excellent plus condition with only the lightest evidence of play. A few very light scuffs on the body and a few tiny scratches on the headstock from string changes are all that can be found and only upon very close inspection. The frets are in superb condition. It comes in it's original Ameritage premium case also in excellent plus condition.

It isn't often you find a high-end Brazilian Rosewood instrument of this caliber for under $5K. Make this beautiful looking and performing 12-fret instrument yours today!
