Description

We are big fans of the early offerings from John Suhr and you will see we have a few in stock. Offered here is a Suhr Classic S custom model built way back in 2003. These early Suhr guitars are of extremely high quality and this extremely well preserved example has been blessed with a relatively rare Brazilian Rosewood fret board.

This awesome guitar has: an Alder body with a Charcoal Frost metallic finish and a total weight of just 7.8 pounds; a gorgeous Birdseye Maple neck with a smooth, satin-finish and a nice medium C-shape with depth measurements of .840" at the first fret and .920" at the twelfth fret: a gorgeous, dark Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with a 10 - 14" compound radius, clay dots; a 1.687" nut and medium stainless steel frets; a steel trem bridge with drop-in arm; Sperzel locking tuners; and for electronics, three Suhr V60LP single coils (6.3 ohms for the neck and middle and 7.2 ohms for the bridge) with VTT and five-way switch. The original owner added an early and then revolutionary example of Suhr's Silent Single Coil (SSC) backplate system to help quiet the single coil hum. While I cannot imagine why you would want to, the SSC system can be easily removed if desired.

These early Suhr guitars were built one at a time and in relatively low quantities as compared with today's production. They play like surgical instruments and sound fabulous too. Just listen to the brief sound sample provided. This guitar plays effortlessly and sounds like a Strat-style guitar should, with lots of quack and clarity.

Despite being built 14 years ago, this gorgeous example remains in near mint condition with only a few very minor impressions on the body. The stainless steel frets remain in flawless condition. It comes in it's original G&G case (in very good condition) along with the trem arm, original rear cavity cover and paperwork.

If a great rosewood Strat-style instrument is what you are looking for, this beautiful Suhr deserves your careful consideration. Highly recommended!
