Up for sale, a 1959 Supro Sahara in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured by Valco in Chicago (also home to the National and Airline branded instruments), this USA made vintage guitar has a stately look and delivers a surprising range of tones from the neck position oversized single coil pickup. There's a certain power and cut that these vintage Valco single coils have, and this pickup can chime with the best, while overdriving very smoothly and delivering a sweet, yet clear tone. Featuring three distinct tone caps, each with its own individual mini volume knob, the Sahara can deliver everything from sinewy snap and twang, to midrange rich growl and more bass frequency focused, thick sounds that are very round and ideal for pairing with your favorite fuzz pedal. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Supro has been dialed in with low action and fresh 10-46 strings.

The neck has a very round and chunky "baseball bat" C shaped profile that fills the palm, paired with a slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The stock fretwire is intact and retains its full original height, with only the faintest hint of wear beneath the plain strings down at the nut and virtually no wear up the neck, with well rounded fret crowns and solid intonation. The guitar features a 1 5/8" handcarved bone nut, and the 24 1/2" scale length is very comfortable and intuitive. On the headstock, the original raised plastic "Supro" logo is intact, and the white pinstiping around the headstock edges is very clean. The Supro/National specific Kluson Deluxe single line tuners are intact with their original, large plastic tulip buttons, and these tuners turn very smoothly, holding pitch as they should.

All of the electronics work as they should and are completely original, with untouched solder joints and original pots that turn smoothly with no crackling. The original hardware is completely intact, with a compensated, floating Brazilian rosewood bridge, chrome Art Deco styled trapeze tailpiece, original knobs, and of course the "Sahara" pickguard, which still has some of its lettering and the majority of its pinstriping intact. The thickness of the neck heel and the height of the bridge off the body keeps the three mini knobs out of one's pick path, and this is an extremely easy to play guitar. The original nitro lacquer finish has aged to a lovely "vanilla pudding" shade of cream, with light lacquer checking and various small nicks and dings around the edges of the body, but no serious wear of any kind. If you're looking for a 100% original, properly setup, and fully functional vintage Supro, this is a very well cared for example!

The original blonde/gray two-tone chipboard case is included and in good overall condition, with original latches and handle.
