1959 Supro Triple Tone Black

Summary: The Supro Triple Tone was only made for about a year so this beauty is super cool & super rare. The solid-body electric guitar has an interesting vinyl material wrapped around the whole body instead of finish, a nice fat neck and 3 dynamite sounding fat single coil pickups. It has some scuffs and scratches but is totally functional and plays great.

Body: Solid body single cutaway electric guitar – the body is about 17.25” long and the lower bout is 13.25” wide. It has a really neat double pickguard and a black coating around it.

Neck: This vintage Supro has a bolt on maple neck with 1 9/16" wide nut, neck tilt adjustment, ebony fretboard with white block inlays, 20 frets, scale length of 24.75” and the original Kluson Deluxe tuning keys with oversized white keystones.

Pickups/Hardware: 3 original gold covered fat single pickups with lots of patina and patent numbers on them, original doubled creamy white pickguard with 3 way toggle switch, intonated rosewood floating bridge, gold tailpiece and original vintage tuning machines.

Cosmetics: This Supro shows a lot of wear consistent with a guitar from the late 1950’s – there are nicks & dings on the body, lots of buckle rash all over the back, wear on the headstock and neck with the black finish wearing off in a few places. The pickup covers have a really nice patina to them. The frets still have some life left in them but they do show some wear.

Playability: We set this baby up with a new set of 10’s and it plays pretty well – the action is low, the frets are in great shape & the big beefy neck feels very comfortable.

Modifications: The knobs look old but they may be replacements.
