Thomas Humphrey guitars are exceptional works of lutherie art and the Millennium model is the apex of his craft. They have been coveted by many fine guitarists, including Sergio and Odair Assad, Eliot Fisk, Ben Verderey, David Tannenbaum, Lili Ashfar, Bruce and Adam Holzman, Sharon Isbin, and many others. His guitars are known for their power, projection, upper treble response, and easy access to the upper register.

Tom ‘experimented wildly’ up until about 2004. He was constantly, fearlessly experimenting with so many aspects of the guitar: soundboard bracing, back bracing, finish, bridge design, and more. Perhaps the most famous feature he developed is the elevated fingerboard, a practice which has been adopted by several other makers since Humphrey popularized it on the classical guitar scene. He hit his stride in 2004 and built consistent guitars with great qualities from that point on. Tom passed in April of 2008.

This guitar was constructed in the last 2 years of Tom’s production. This prime example from 2006 has the trademark quality of tone known to Humphrey lovers - a powerful, "hollow" and focused sound which makes these instruments particularly well-suited to the concert stage, where added projection is welcomed by audience and player alike. Materials are striking - especially the rosewood back and sides which have an interesting and elaborate figured grain and sapwood striping, giving this guitar a distinct visual personality. A unique feature of this particular masterwork is an atypical, original and perhaps special ordered “shaved edge” of the lower edge of the fretboard allowing a surprisingly comfortable and relaxed feel while playing. Any serious collector or concert performer seeking the perfect Millennium will love this guitar.

It has spent its life in a humidity and temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Condition is excellent and completely original with no repairs or damage - only very modest signs of wear
