Description

Offered for sale is this fabulous Deluxe 90 guitar built by Ron Thorn in 2014. I obtained this guitar from a good friend and customer who sold it to me with great reluctance. Only the onset of severe arthritis could get him to part with this incredible instrument.

The specs for this over-the-top guitar include: a semi-hollow body made of Black Limba (Korina) with a highly figured Koa top and a total weight of just 7.0 pounds; a glued-in Black Limba neck with a 25" string scale, a fat C-shape, moderate shoulders and depth measurements of .88" at the 1st fret and .96" at the 12th; a gorgeous almost black old-growth Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with a 12" radius, 1.687" tusq nut, medium (6150) fret wire and fancy celluloid inlays; a Thorn tremolo bridge; locking Sperzel tuners with ivoroid buttons; Thorn standard wind GT-90 staple top pickups with volume, tone and a 3-way toggle for controls; and a lovely nitrocellulose finish consisting of light caramel on top and vintage natural on the back.

This guitar is a masterpiece. The build quality and the tastefulness of the cosmetic touches are simply amazing. As strikingly beautiful as this instrument is, it plays and sounds even better. The impeccable setup makes it a joy to play and the tone is fat like a Les Paul or an SG, but with more complexity than either. Please check out the provided sound sample. I don't know how Ron does it, but I love it!

This guitar was cherished by the original owner and the condition shows it. You will have to look incredibly close to find ANY evidence of prior play, frets included. It comes in it's similarly mint G&G case with the original paperwork, tools and trem arm.

The combination of exceptional tonewoods, a short string scale, P-90 pickups and a tremolo bridge make for a very flexible instrument. It is beautiful to look at, beautiful to play and has killer tone. This is an exceptional instrument in every way. Make it yours.
