Description

I continue to be blown-away by the work of Ron Thorn and keep acquiring them for my inventory whenever practical. Offered here is a recent example of Ron's work; his take on the classic 50's blackguard Tele. The specs of this gorgeous instrument include: a contoured Swamp Ash body with Mary Kaye see-through lacquer finish and a total weight of 7.2 pounds; a Maple neck with smooth TruOil finish, a medium C-shape with depth measurements of .850" - .950", a 10"-14" compound radius fretboard, medium frets and a 1.670" nut width; a high quality Joe Barden vintage style bridge with high-E cutout and compensated brass saddles; locking vintage style Gotoh tuners; and for electronics, Arcane '51 single coils with volume, tone, 3-way switch and modern wiring. This guitar feels and plays amazingly. The playability and the feel of the neck will remind you of a Tyler with it's great setup, the shape of the neck and it's smooth, non-tacky finish. If you have never played a Thorn, the build quality and attention to detail will blow you away. To my ear, the tone is vintage Tele with just a touch of additional bite in the bridge pickup. This 2014 model is in near mint condition with just a bit of cloudiness on the Bakelite pickguard; the rest of the guitar and the frets are virtually flawless. It comes in a G&G black/white tweed case in very good condition. If you have been looking for a Tele with that "something special", this baby's got it! Very nice!
