Offered is this very cool Thorn G/T, just in on consignment. Ron Thorn makes a variety of high-end electrics and is also known for his fine inlay work. His guitars are works of art which have the beauty of instruments made by PRS, paired with the build quality of instruments made by Collings or Suhr.

The G/T offered here looks to be Ron's take on a Tele Junior, with it's shorty pickguard and P-90 neck pickup. However, Ron chose a relatively unique combination of tone woods for this guitar. Key specifications for this guitar include: a Swamp Ash body with a very thin Shoreline Gold nitrocellulose finish; East Indian Rosewood for the neck and fretboard; a custom C-shaped neck with depth measurements of .850" at the first fret, increasing to .940" at the twelfth fret; a 10" to 14" compound radius fretboard with .047" x .095" fret wire, mastodon ivory fretboard inlays and a 1.670" tusq nut; a Joe Barden bridge with compensated brass saddles; vintage style locking tuners; and for electronics, a Thorn GT-90T staple top single coil in the bridge position, along with two (2) Thorn custom Bakelite pickguards, one loaded with a Thorn/Pasadena Classic single coil and the other loaded with a Lindy Fralin "noise cancelling" P-90 which is currently installed in the guitar. This P-90 functions much like a humbucker with horizontal coils wired to middle-mounted pole pieces for a thick, fat, hum free tone. This guitar has a total weight of 7.8 pounds.

The Ash/Rosewood combination gives this guitar a tone with exceptional clarity and bite, but not to the point of being piercing. Ron chooses pickups which offer a bit more character than most and along with the tone woods used, make for a guitar voice which is a nice mix of Tele twang and harmonic complexity. Ron's top notch build quality makes for a great setup and superb playability. The solid Rosewood neck just feels awesome in your hand. This is a guitar that begs to be played and heard!

This instrument is in very good condition. As with most great playing and sounding guitars, this sweetie has been played a bit and the back of the guitar shows a touch of buckle rash and few small finish flaws which are pictured. These small cosmetic issues aside, the rest of the guitar is in excellent condition and the frets show little to no wear. It comes in it's original G&G black tweed case with both loaded pickguards, tools and paperwork.

Make this very fine and quite special Thorn G/T yours today. You will be very glad you did!
