Offered for sale:

Used c1984 Tokai Hard Puncher TPB-50V [R] bass guitar serial number L20002.

This bass is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically there are marks and nicks about the body, general wear expected of a bass this age that has been played and enjoyed. The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan SPB-2 units (split-coil P Bass pickup with added warmth and punch gives you a bigger tone than the Vintage model).

The Tokai Hard Puncher models are highly regarded among players and collectors. Many feel that the quality of these basses equal and often exceed the build quality of American P-Basses from this era. The same was said of the Fenders made in Japan at that time.

According to Tokai catalogs from the early 1980s the TPB-50V was either a 1957 Model P-Bass with maple fretboard [M], or a 1960 Model P-Bass with rosewood fretboard [R] and “L plate” serial number. Both models have the ‘50s/’60s style small model name under the Tokai logo, rather than the ‘70s style large model name to the right of the logo.

In 1982 the western guitar market was shocked into submission. Never before had it seen instruments of such quality from a Japanese builder. Tokai had come to town and had changed the entire perception of the guitar world forever! Their arrival brought about a knee-jerk reaction from the world’s existing major manufacturers. However, by this time, Tokai had firmly established itself as a builder of unquestionable reputation and precision. Unlike many of its competitors, Tokai founded by Tadayouki Adachi in Hamamatsu in 1947, still remains a genuine family concern.

If you have been a fan of quality instruments that are made in Japan, or if you've desired a "Horse of another Color" P-Bass. Consider this Hard Puncher!

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
