A very good friend and customer asked me recently, "how come you haven't had any Tom Andersons in stock lately?" The only response I could come up with was that the right TA just hadn't come along. I've always been a fan of Tom Anderson's guitars, assuming the specs and the price were right.

Soon after that conversation a very special Tom Anderson caught my eye and is offered here. This is a TA Hollow Drop Top S built in 2013. The first thing I look for when considering a TA for our inventory is the neck shape. This guitar was custom-ordered with a relatively large (for a TA) Even Taper +.070" neck carve with depth measurements of .88" at the first fret increasing to .95" at the twelfth fret. The body is chambered Alder topped with a lovely piece of nicely figured Koa. The fretboard is Indian Rosewood with a 12"-14" compound radius, a 1-5/8" nut and heavy stainless steel frets. The electronics include two SF1 single coils, an HF3 humbucker in the bridge postion, five way switching, master volume, master tone with push pull coil splitting of the bridge and a three way toggle which gives you two levels of the built-in, no battery, TA boost. This guitar has a total weight of just 6.2 pounds!

This TA definitely falls into the "super-Strat" category. It is built like a precision surgical device and it is set up so well that it nearly plays itself. As for tone, if you can't find the sound you are looking for with this guitar and it's advances electronics, perhaps your hearing needs checking!

If all that isn't enough, this guitar is drop dead gorgeous. It was built in 2013 but has seen little play and is in superb condition with just one tiny impression in the top's lower bout (see photo) to keep me from calling it mint. I don't think you will find any other cosmetic flaws of any kind and the stainless steel frets are spotless. It comes in it's similarly spotless G&G case along with the spec sheet and all the accessories, including the trem arm, tools, leather strap and fretboard protector.

In 2013 this guitar commanded a price of approximately $4K. A similar guitar built today would be much more. Get this near mint and barely played beauty for a cool grand $ less! A very special Tom Anderson guitar indeed!
