You would be hard pressed to find a ‘40s archtop in better condition than this gorgeous Vega C-56! The C-56 was by far Vega’s most popular professional model. Although similar to the Gibson L7 and Epiphone Triumph models, the C-56 has a slimmer neck profile that gives it a fast and comfortable feel up and down the neck, measuring roughly 1 5/8th” at the nut. It is a fantastic archtop with a great feel and an attention-grabbing look! The 17” wide body sports a gorgeous nitrocellulose Sunburst finish that really brings out the beauty in the grain of its flamed maple back and sides as well as the spruce top. Based on the guitar’s features we have narrowed the year of manufacture to sometime in the 1940s. The serial reads 4821 on the white oval Vega label inside of the upper F-hole. It features an ebony bridge with a chrome tailpiece. The ultra-cool orange plastic-tipped tuning machines and the black plastic pickguard look period-appropriate. The bound neck features alternating dot/double square inlays on a rosewood fingerboard. The frets have some wear but the guitar plays great with no noticeable fretting out or buzzing. This guitar has been set-up by our staff tech for optimal playability. There is a roughly 2" crack that starts at the bottom of the treble hand side F hole. It only goes all the way through for about 1/2 " where the crack starts, with the remainder of the crack only being on the surface of the top. Otherwise it is in fantastic shape for a guitar of its age with only light playwear throughout! The Vega C-56 is a vintage archtop with a great and unique look that also plays better than many Gibsons or Epiphones more than twice its price! Includes original hard shell case.
