Offered for sale:
Used 2000 Veillette 12 String Baritone serial number 011.
This instrument is in excellent condition showing limited playing time. We acquired it from the original owner who meticulously cares for all his instruments. Plus he has so many, there aren’t enough days in the year to put significant playing time on all his gear.
The Veillette Baritone models have attracted a long list of players including Ani DiFranco, Kaki King, "Skunk" Baxter, Joe Perry, John Sebastian, Billy Gibbons, Dave Matthews, Brad Whitford, Eddie Van Halen, and the list goes on!
Veillette Baritones are designed for maximum playability and comfort, and scale lengths are chosen to optimize these factors for each model. The Baritone 6-string's 27.7" scale has plenty of tension and length for the fullest possible sound, without excessive, uncomfortable fret spacing. The Baritone 12-string's 26.1" scale length is a little shorter, to compensate for the added tension and fretting pressure of the high octave strings.
Some of Joe Veillette’s story:
“My first taste of guitar making came soon after architectural school, while working as an architectural designer in New York City. After three reputed experts couldn’t fix the broken headstock on my new first guitar, I suddenly found myself with an opportunity to learn guitar building from Michael Gurian. I figured that if I could learn to make one, I could probably fix mine. That was in 1971.”
“I soon lost interest in architecture & moved from Brooklyn to Grahamsville, NY, where I made acoustic guitars until mid-1975. At that time, I co-founded Veillette-Citron Guitars with my friend & fellow architectural student Harvey Citron. The company did well, selling to many notable players. In 1978, John Sebastian asked us to build a baritone guitar, resulting in the VC Shark. That began my fascination with different scale lengths & string tensions, which still marks many of my designs. Veillette-Citron closed in 1983.”
“In 1991, I started Woodstock Music Products with Stuart Spector, making Spector basses & starting a line of Veillette electric & baritone guitars. When we parted company in mid-1995, development began on the current line of hybrid "acoustic/electric" Veillette Guitars. Around that same time, Michael Tobias & I co-designed the Avante acoustic, baritone, and bass guitars for Alvarez Guitars. I also developed the Deep 6 Baritone neck, a no-modification conversion for Strats or Teles, & the Deep 6 Plus, a 7-String guitar with a longer scale for enhanced tonal balance on all strings, including the usually weak low B.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
