Description

The original Kraken, a 50 Watt compact powerhouse, is one of our most popular and highly regarded amplifiers. The updated MKII version, designed in collaboration with Victory artist Rabea Massaad, retains all the great features and sounds you love, while adding extra features and versatility.

The MKII still has 50 glorious Watts of power and two channels of gain, one for classic British-inspired rhythm tones and the other for tight, aggressive searing American high-gain sounds. However, we’ve added to Gain I a Clean mode, which can be footswitched or controlled by a three way switch on the front panel. There is also a presence control, a presence shift switch, assignable dual master volume, external rear bias outputs, and a Gain 1 balance control.

CLEAN/GAIN I
Following on the original Kraken’s Gain I (British inspired) channel, we have added a clean mode. This can be switched via the front panel or a footswitch.

GAIN II CHANNEL
Gain II is an American-inspired channel design. It is the same design as the original Kraken and is perfect for tight, aggressive American style gain sounds.

SIMPLE POWERFUL EQ
Plenty of tone-sculpting potential, the front panel has a three band EQ.

GAIN I BALANCE CONTROL
Clean and Gain I modes have the same gain control which can create volume differences when switching between them. We have added a pot on the back to fine tune the levels between these two modes, adding extra flexibility.

MASTER VOLUME DESIGN
There are two footswitchable master volume controls, one for each channel. The master volume assign switch can switch the volume controls to be set globally across channels or to their original Gain I/Gain II channel.

PRESENCE CONTROL & SWITCH
New to the MKII is a presence control. Push the presence up and you are able to get ‘sizzle’ and higher frequency sounds. If you prefer the original Kraken controls, set the presence at 0 and you’re back to the MKI tone. On the back panel, there is a presence switch that changes the brightness of the presence control. Pushing it in will result in a slightly brighter tone.

HIGH/LOW POWER MODE
The VX Kraken MKII is a 50 Watt monster of an amp, but if you need to tame the volume or reduce the amp’s headroom, then switch down into low power mode. This changes the amp’s output to 9 Watts.

BASS FOCUS SWITCH
This is much more than a bass EQ. It works in the power section of the amp to offer either a tighter, more focused bottom end, or a more loose and resonant bottom end depending on your needs and tastes.

SERIES EFFECTS LOOP
A series effects loop is available for pedal fans. It’s completely out of the circuit when bypassed.

EXTERNAL BIAS TEST POINTS
No need to fiddle about inside when you change output valves. The VX Kraken will be fitted with 6L6’s as standard but can be biased to use EL34’s too
