Buck trumpet of Early Elkhart era, light weight model
[general description].
Buck B♭Trumpet, lightweight model. One-piece yellow brass lightweight steel wire beadbell with ML bore. Bronze & brass two-piece valve casing. Lightweight body (*) instrument weight 1013 grams. No case, body only, serial number 81xxx, made in 1972.
*Lightweight with thinner leadpipe, main tuning, and each extractor inner tube, and brass receiver outer tube instead of nickel silver.

This is a repainted product (relacquer). Dent repair marks on bell flare, bell stem, and extraction tube. Lacquer peeling, pinholes (pitting) in lacquer.The inside of the tube has been cleaned and replaced with a soft mono (*), and all parts have been serviced and inspected. Piston tightness and action are good.
The inner felt of the piston is made of pressed felt that we order for Bach. The thickness of the felt is adjusted according to the year of production and individual differences.

Lightweight model produced during the Early Elkhart period. Like the lightweight models of the Mount Vernon era, the valve casing is made of two pieces of bronze and brass. It is characterized by the edgy sound and bright, open tone typical of lightweights, but it also has a firm bottom end for stable control. This is a unit that shows high potential in big band and horn sections, as well as in classical formats.
