Vinetto guitars were built by Vince Cunetto, former Fender Custom Shop aging master and the individual many credit for creating the concept of guitar aging. Whether true or not, few luthiers know how to make a new instrument look and feel like a vintage instrument the way that Vince Cunetto can. He calls his aged guitars "Artifacts" so as not to violate Fender's "Relic" copywrite. Besides extremely realistic aging, the overall quality of Vince's work is extremely high, equal to Fender Masterbuilt guitars in my opinion.
Offered here is an Artifact DC60, Vince's take on a vintage '60 Fender Stratocaster. This guitar has an Alder body with a faded Olympic White nitrocellulose finish which has been superbly aged and a total guitar weight of 7.5 pounds; a 60's C-shape Maple neck with depth measurements of .850" at the first fret and .960" at the twelfth fret; a lovely Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with 9.5" radius, medium/jumbo frets and a 1.650" bone nut; a Callaham tremolo bridge and saddles; and for electronics, three Lollar Blackface single coils with a 5-way switch and modern wiring. In addition to the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, this guitar was also ordered with an optional Suhr noise-reducing backplate to mimimize the single coil hum.
I recommend this marvelous Strat-style guitar without hesitation. It feels, plays and sounds like the real deal. This guitar is as good as any of the Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilts Relics I've played over the years and at a much lower price. Please check out the provided sound sample for a short taste of the tone of this wonderful Strat-style instrument. The look, feel and sound of this guitar rivals that of Strat-style guitars costing twice as much.
This guitar is in excellent condition and the frets on this guitar show little to no wear as shown in the provided photos. Other than the original "Under the Bed" aging (think Fender "Closet Classic Relic"), it shows no perceptible flaws and the frets remain in great condition. It comes with it's original brown G&G case, also in superb condition, along with the trem arm and paperwork.
Vinettos are no longer being built as arthritis forced Vince into an early retirement, so those that already exist are all there will be. This is one of the best buys anywhere on a premium Brazilian Rosewood Strat-style guitar. Make it yours!
