Vintage George Washburn 1880 / 1890 era Parlor size O guitar - Greg's Guitars.Here is one for your viewing pleasure that is not seen everyday.Pre dates the model 199 introduced in 1895. The Mahogany body was an upgrade and custom order back in the day, go figure and is especially rare..From it's wonderfully inlaid original tuning keys and very sensually carved volute down it's vine and vase pearl and abalone inlaid ebony fingerboard to it's beautifully carved original fan engraved ebony bridge with the original inlaid string pins, mother of pearl block inlay on peghead. this guitar is a treat to see. Wasburn has indicated in their opinion that this guitar predated the style 199 and appeared to be an uncatalogued model and was quite possibly a custom ordered guitar when it was made at the Washburn factory.Original nut and saddle,frets.The inside brand is the "belt encircled" George Washburn logo and "New Model" both appearing strong and on the center back brace. The end pin is inlaid and original,the top is bound in white and a single black purfling strip,bound neck and headstock with an unbound Mahogany sides and back.Single Zipper striping down center back seam with several unrepaired back cracks.
