Description

By the serial number (43114) the guitar was made in 1928. The model 750 has solid mahogany back and sides, solid spruce top, mahogany neck and rosewood fret board and bridge. The top and back are rosewood bound with multi-colored 'rope' style purfilings against the top, back and sides under the binding. The rosette is a three ring affair of rope purfling and simple lines. The fret board is bound. The lower bout width is 13 5/8", the scale length is 24 7/8", nut width measures 1 13/16" and the pin spacing is 2 1/4". The guitar has had its tuners replaced with modern reproductions of the original Waverly WG-31s that once graced the head stock. Everything else including the finish is original. The top is ladder braced and is flat under tension. The neck is straight under tension as well. The guitar is crack free and though it has a few finish dings and nicks and some crazing in the lacquer the overall cosmetic presentation is excellent. There is one spot of the back binding (about 1" long) that was damaged somehow in the past but this is limited to the binding only. Most of the original Weymann decal on the back of the headstock is flaked away, but the name remains readable. The guitar has had a neck reset and the angle is just right, and the neck was refretted at the same time. The instrument is very lightly built and as such I've strung it with XLs, and it plays great. The action is set at 6/64" and 5/64" (Low E and high E at the 12th fret) with just under 1/8" of saddle showing above the slot in the bridge. The neck has a full and round profile, not at all V shaped. Rare and cool...new Guardian hard case included. $1650
