Used c1927 Weymann Orchestra Style 4 Tenor Banjo serial number 40594.

This tenor banjo is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically showing playing time with some general wear primarily on the back, expected amount of patina for an instrument this age. This is an unrestored banjo and all elements of the design and construction present well.

Weymann produced these banjos in Philadelphia and they feature rosewood construction for the neck. rim and resonator. The 19 fret 23” scale length neck is reinforced with multi-laminated different color woods to add strength and visual decoration. The heel cap is ebony and is hard carved on both sides of the base of the neck. There is a small cover retained with a screw on the heel cap, the screw has gone missing.

The triple bound ebony fingerboard is inlaid with mother of pearl in an elaborate “tree of life” vine that runs the full length of the fingerboard. The headstock features an ebony cap and is inlaid with a floral design and Weymann lettering and 4-to-1 non slip geared tuners with pearl buttons.

The megaphonic rosewood rim features binding and purfling, the rim top is veneered with ebony and inlaid with pearl ornamental leaves. All hardware is gold plated including the tension hoop and twenty bracket hooks (one is missing). The natural rosewood armrest is intact.

The resonator is solid rosewood with bound edges, and also has a gold-plated fitted flange cut in a floral design.

The overall weight of this instrument is 9.2 lbs.

This is a beautifully ornate, visually stunning banjo, plays great and sounds sweet!

Collect it, play it, these don’t come along very often.

Original hard-shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
