Description

If you are a fan of Thinline Tele-style instruments, please check out this fine instrument built by Charles Whitfill in 2015.

This Whitfill Slimline has a semi-hollow Swamp Ash body with a two-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish, ivoroid body binding and has a total weight of just 5.6 pounds. It has a one piece Maple neck with a medium C shape and depth measurements of .840" at the first fret increasing to .960" at the twelfth fret. It has a lovely dark Rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius, 6105 fret wire, pearloid fretboard inlays and a 1.655" bone nut. The electronics include two Onamac humbuckers, master volume, master tone a three way switch and premium wiring. The hardware is Gotoh aged nickel which adds to the guitar's strong vintage vibe.

I've only had a couple Whitfill guitars in stock but both have been extremely impressive. As low volume, hand-crafted guitars go, this Slimline would be hard to beat, particularly at this price point. This guitar has a build quality, playability and tone that is far better than most instruments in this price range. It is light, resonant and the tone is superb; just check out the brief sound sample included below.

All of Charles' guitars are aged, this one received his "Gentle" aging consisting primarily of extremely realistic finish checking and the patina of a well cared-for vintage instrument. The aging aside, this guitar shows no flaws and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's original premium form-fit hardshell case.

A new example of this instrument would cost you at least $3,500 and a significant wait and would be a bargain at full price. Get this lightly played 2015 example for hundreds less. This is one of the nicest semi-hollow Tele-style instruments you are likely to come across, particularly at this price. Make this beauty yours!
