William Laskin is one of the world's premiere luthiers and is highly respected for his construction and inlay skills, as well as his abilities as a performer and promoter. As with many other prominent Canadian builders, Laskin apprenticed with Jean Larrivee. He subsequently founded his own shop that produces some of the finest instruments and custom engraved inlay work available anywhere. In 2012, Laskin was appointed to the Order of Canada for his contributions to the Arts and Music.

This William Laskin 12 string acoustic guitar dates to 1989 and was built in his shop in Toronto, Canada. It features a 16 inch wide non-cutaway body using Sitka Spruce for the top, Indian Rosewood for the back, sides, bridge plate and headplate, with Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The body binding is maple, with grained ivoroid binding for the fingerboard. The nut and saddle are bone, and the tuners are Schaller M6 mini units, enclosed with chrome plating. An under-saddle passive pickup has been installed and is wired directly to an endpin jack.

This exceptional guitar is in overall good condition with light play wear and little fret wear. In terms of playability, the action set to 5.5/64ths treble to 7/64ths bass with enough saddle available to lower the action if required. There is a well-repaired, older crack on the top from the bass end of the bridge to the edge that has been examined by our shop and judged as solid and stable.  A Reunion Blues gig bag is included.
