This fine custom 000-42S was built by Maine luthier William Russo in 2012. It is a finely crafted guitar made of high grade Indian rosewood and red spruce. It lacks the bound fret board of a traditional style 42 but has an inlaid bridge, headstock, a vintage style 45 fret board inlay pattern and a custom inlaid pick guard with a moon/wolf motif. The pickguard inlay was done by inlay craftsman Aaron WanWhy of Nazareth, PA. The body is bound in white with abalone top purfling and fret board surround. The neck has a vintage "V" profile. It differs from a traditional 12 fretter in that the nut width is 1 11/16" and the pin spacing 2 1/8", more conventionally found on 14 fret guitars. The scale length is 24.9" The neck has an adjustable truss rod. The finish is lacquer and is in excellent shape on the body, the neck has a couple of nicks and dings here and there. The frets are in great shape. The tuners are individual Waverly slot head tuners with solid black mother of pearl buttons. The action is set at 6/64" and 5/64" with 1/16" of saddle showing, so there's not a lot of saddle left but the action is low and easy and the neck straight. There's a K & K pickup installed in the guitar so this one is stage-ready. The voice of the guitar is big and balanced, fingerpicks and flat picks equally well. Comes with a Martin hard case. $4400
