Description

The supreme harmony of high quality Hakaranda and Maple

YAMAHA / 1974 FG-1500

YAMAHA" entered a new era with the debut of Terry Nakamoto in 1971.
In the same year that the popularity of the FG became unshakable, the lineup of "high-end handmade FGs" was announced.
Three models, the FG-1500/FG-2000/FG-2500 (12-string), were released to the world, and as a result, YAMAHA Acoustic became known throughout the world.

The model introduced here is the FG-1500 made in 1974.
The FG-1500 has a slightly thinner body than YAMAHA's original folk-sized FG-1500, with a body width of about 380mm and a body thickness of about 105mm, giving the impression that it is similar to the Martin 000 size.
The top is made of high-grade Ezo pine, sides are made of Hakaranda, and the back is made of Hakaranda and flame maple, all veneers, and the rosette and trim are inlaid with a very advanced technique called "Zogan" that combines different woods to form patterns. The soundhole is handwritten and signed by "Terry Nakamoto".

The sound impression is not so much the "FG" sound as one might imagine, but rather a melodic sound with a lot of mid-composition.
Of course, the combination of hakaranda and maple gives it a dense, glossy treble, low feel, and open sound, and it has a strong appeal that makes you want to play it forever.
