SN: 100391 – This 1947 D-18 will be a terrific player’s guitar for the bluegrass picker, singer-songwriter or casual strummer. It’s very clean and architecturally solid despite some honest playwear on the top. It plays easily up and down the neck with great volume, nice chordal blooming, and crisp note separation. It’s had a neck reset sometime in the recent past and and very recent refret and PLEK by local repairman and builder Mike Lull. It appears to be all original including the fleur de lis tuners, which still work well, 30’s style brown pickguard, rosewood fretboard, and figured rosewood bridge. The Sitka spruce top has aged to a nice patina. The mahogany back and sides are crack free though there is an area of finish wear. The top has a very tightly repaired b-string crack. That’s it. It’s has the desirable 25.4” scale length, a 1 11/16” nut and 2 3/8” string spacing at the bridge. It comes with a 300 Series Martin case in nice condition.
