Tom has cut his workload down a bit these days so you don't see nearly as many guitars coming out of his private practice. This is one he hand built himself in 2008 as a very custom order for a client with some special needs. He had a severe back injury which necessitated him having a guitar that was smaller, shallower body, a shorter scale and a custom knee brace to help with holding the guitar in place. The knee brace is a clever contraption that the owner came up with, and Tom executed, which bolts to the back of the guitar with two nylon bolts that are padded so as to not scratch the finish On the cosmetic side, Tom tracked down some exotic Haitian Chocolate pearl for the fretmarkers which nicely match the rich brown hue of the finish. Another cool feature of this guitar is the fine tuning tailpiece which is very uncommon on archtops and is quite possible the only one made in conjunction with an Ebony tailpiece. Needless to say it sounds and plays like a Ribbecke which means "out-of-this-world! And it comes complete with two rubber f-hole baffle to cut down on feedback and the original Calton hardshell case.
