  • 1959 Fender® Stratocaster® w/ rare 9 screw green guard

    $22,000

    • Year: 1959
    • Manufacturer: Fender®
    • Model: Stratocaster® w/ rare 9 screw green guard
    • Case: Original Hard
    • Color: Sunburst w/ 9 screw guard
    • Condition: Fair
    • Description: this is a very rare guitar. one of almost none made with a 9 screw green pickguard. most '59 slab boards have an 11 screw green guard. many (that's right...many) have a single layer 10 screw guard. i've only ever heard of three with a 9 screw green guard, and this is the ONLY one i've actually seen. it's hammered, but sounds great and is 100% original w/ original case and hangtag. i used to own THE july 1958 guitar that's on the hangtag...that was a cool guitar - 8 screw green guard, walnut teardrop, skunk stripe, slab board, and white kitchen top type inlays. i've only ever heard of ONE 8 screw green guard slab board the the non-conventional screw placement...and i'm going to list that one in a minute. party! i just sold the hammered but 100% original (except for the trem arm) blonde one. original trem and bridge covers are included. btw: only 9 screw holes under the guard. cool. SOLD

    • Description: i guess this Strat®'s pretty rare. i've NEVER heard of another one...8 screw (but not in the single layer pattern) green guard slab board. this one's nice and clean with original hang tag (yeah yeah yeah...i used to own THE guitar on that hang tag). the guitar i'm selling here is a real lightweight hard-tail model. it was 100% original until just a few months ago when the then owner finally gave up on the original small frets and had large frets impeccably installed. (he retained the original frets and they are included) then it turned out he had to sell the guitar...lucky me...lucky you. comes with a pretty nice brown hardshell case. photo's soon...(i say that) btw: only 8 screw holes under the guard. cool. All except one (and I play that one) have originals tuners. I'm really just mentioning them here so I can host a photo from a flea Bay auction. There is not a molecule of chrome plating anywhere in the entire lot… hell yes… Even the beautiful dark cherry one on the lower left is all nickel plated. It practically looks like chrome even in person… It's just that damn clean. my gbase email is STILL outta whack...so...you gotta type out southworthguitar@aol.com to inquire.

    • Description: yeah, you regret selling that '58 Strat® for $375, that you bought in college for 200 bucks. i get that. everybody does. the thing is...i've noticed over the last 30 years or so that; THE guitar people most regret selling is the alnico pickup '50's Les Paul Custom. it's such an un-sung model (hero). it's the one you really just weren't paying attention to...until it was to late. well...here ya go, fruity. 1955 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 5 10006. normal checking with minor scrapes and dings to the finish. Non-original Bigsby has been added in a professional manner. Electronics are original and unmolested. Original Fretless Wonder frets with moderate wear. THIS GUITAR SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGIOUS. it's got a great neck, but it doesn't play worth a shit because it's got the original fretless wonder frets...and they've been filed...ouch. the condition of this guitar is better (i think) than any rap i've read about it on the information super-highway. with CLEAN original hard case. i figure this would be a solid $19,000 guitar...but figure 5 bills or so for a fret job.

    • Model: ES-345
    • Case: Original Hard
    • Color: watermelon cherry
    • Condition: Very Good
    • Description: this one's real RARE. one of a half dozen or so known original 1959 Cherry 345's. the color didn't catalog until 1960, and then it's not the same color. this one's the BMOC watermelon-cherry and thie finish is nice and thin. removed bigsby, grovers added (and subtracted...looks better with the gold repro. butterflys, it now sports), it was sold to me as perhaps having had neck-work, but there's NO funny business on the neck on this guitar other than the enlarging of the 6 holes from the when it had grovers. rare to see gold knobs on a cherry ES series, but this one is so early...i'm guessing they're original to the guitar...pretty cool. 2 factory SEALED stickered original PAF's...handy!

'60 with gold ring BOTH have a sealed pair of DOUBLE WHITE PAF'S. other than some gold plating wear BOTH ARE NEAR MINT and 100% ORIGINAL except for tuner tips. 21k for the '59...20k for the '60 which has some fret wear. we're not gonna get into ptoto's of pot dates and all that crap. i'm gilby damnit. you could eat off the front or back of either of these guitars...they're THAT clean. NO neck wear either. btw: actual singular and better photo's coming...i guess
