Description

This 2012 Gibson Brands Les Paul Classic Plus serial number 120020443 is in excellent condition. The neck and frets are fine; overall the guitar shows little playing time.

Featuring a mahogany body with a highly figured grade-AA maple top, mahogany neck with a baked maple fingerboard and 60's slim tapered profile, 496R and 500T pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tail piece, finished in Heritage Cherry Sunburst, this is a very attractive instrument.

Weighing in at 8.8lbs with a nut width of 1 11/16” the profile at the first fret is .820 and the profile at the 12th fret is .870.
This is an attractive Les Paul, plays well and sounds great as it should. Nice guitar at a nice price.

Original hard case included.

So, I'm sure you're all wondering why this Les Paul Classic has pickup covers. As we all know (well, almost all), LP Classics come without pickup covers. But this one has PU covers. Why is that? Could it be that, of the billions of LP variations that gibson brands conjures up, this some limited edition PU covered Classic that never made it to their web site?
NO!
This was bought new from musicians feind. We asked our customer if he put the covers on. He said no, it never even occurred to him that pickup covers could be installed or removed.
So we opened it up to see exactly what PUs are in this one. They were the stock 496R and 500T. But someone had put on PU covers. AND they didn't even solder them on correctly.
So how did mf get a "brand new" guitar, unprofessionally modified, into the hands of my customer? Did some slacker at gibson brands quality control department fall down on the job? Possibly, but those guys typically screw up in other ways, like uneven glue joints and bridges mounted in the wrong place.
No, friends, my Sherlock surmises that mf originally shipped it without covers to one customer. That guy decides to put covers on himself (doing an unprofessional job), then sends it back to mf for a refund. Since mf is a marketing machine and not a real music store they don't notice the mod. They put it back on the shelf and sell it to the next guy (my guy). No?
Since the guitar looks good with the covers we reinstalled them properly. Of course we can remove them if you wish.
Moral of the story: Friends don't let friends by musical equipment from marketing monsters on the interweb. It's a buyer BEWARE world out there (unlike here at Imperial Guitar).

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
***This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
***It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
