Offered for sale:

Used 1968 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary model serial number 88310.

This guitar is in good condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically showing nicks and marks about the body and back of neck, also finish checking and brightwork tarnishing. The somewhat expected Gretsch “binding wear” is present throughout, the binding has shrunken and cracked and the heel cap has deteriorated, not an unexpected trait for this era of Gretsch especially in an instrument that has playing time. However, there is no loose binding at this time.

These are somewhat rare, a double pickup model of the Anniversary, with all the pre-Baldwin specs, built in the last year before the illustrious company was sold and moved from their Brooklyn manufacturing facilities. This one shows an abundance of patina and wear, but still plays great and has a rich, full sound.

Featuring a bound, single cutaway body with arched maple top, back and sides in sunburst finish. Gretsch trapeze tailpiece, rosewood-based Space-Control bridge, Gretsch Arrow controls knobs, dual “F” holes and a gold pickguard.

Two-piece maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid “Neo-Classic” thumbnail inlays, a zero fret and a 11 1/16” nut. original open-gear tuners, 24 1/2” scale length.

HiLoTron pickups in the neck and bridge with dual volume controls, a master volume control, 3-way tone switch and 3-way pickup selector switch. The 2 switches are fitted with “Dice” tips.

This guitar has a distinctly vintage sound and feel. The HiLoTron pickups sound beautiful with the hollow maple body and offer a very warm tone in the middle and neck pickup settings. Think George Harrison’s Tennessean on a 6120 body.

Original hard-shell case included.

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship. If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
