Description

Offered for sale:

Used 1969 Martin D-28 serial number 244619.

This guitar is in very good condition. Cosmetically there are the usual “nicks & marks” here and there, the expected patina from an instrument this age.

This D-28 has benefitted from a “pro” refret, and the bridge has been replaced with a new Martin ebony bridge. The bridge plate has been reinforced with spruce. There is a repaired split down the middle of the top as well a two touched up ¾” dings. A few braces have been re-glued and the nut replaced. It has a new pick guard. Also the neck has been reset.

You can tell that whatever care this guitar needed it was done by one of the top doctors in the around and has now been returned to a fully functional D-28.

The celebrated D-28 is an instrument that can do anything the owner wishes; everything sounds great on this ’69, the last year of the use of Brazilian Rosewood as the standard tonewood. Another interesting feature is the rounded corner headstock shape which historians say was due to wear in the original squared off jigs and fixtures. The ebony unbound fingerboard is inlaid with 8 Mother of Pearl dot markers with ivoroid markers on the bass side. The top is bordered in 5 plies of crème and black, the back only in black-white; the sides are bound in crème celluloid. The soundhole rosette is ringed in three-ply, then 9-ply, then three-ply. Martin created a timeless guitar with the D-28.

Own an historic, well loved and cared for dreadnought with a big sound and a big heart.

Original hard-shell case included.

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship. If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
