Michael Swart has been building vintage inspired beautiful amplifiers in Wilmington, NC. Swart players include Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), John Flansburgh (They Might Be Giants), Greg V, Matthew Sweet, etc...
The STR-Tremolo is like a mini version of Swart's larger Space Tone Reverb. Powered by a single 6V6 tube and clocking in at 5 watts, this gorgeous little amp has awesome breakup at lower volumes. The STR-Tremolo sounds fabulous when set to cleaner tones as well, but the breakup on this amp is just huge.
The strength of this Swart design is the reverb and tremolo which are incredible. Tube driven and lush, add that to the way this amp breaks up and that’s a winning combination. In addition, there’s a mini toggle switch which helps dial back some of the bass when cranked or you can add it back when playing clean or at lower volumes, and you've got one great amp for home, studio, or small gig use!
Like all Swart amps, the STR-Tremolo utilizes the Swart's philosophy of minimal controls for the least amount of complexity, something that's instrumental to great tone.
