Description

SN: 2377. Full bodied and big voiced tribute to the Regal Jumbos of the 1930s and 40s made Collings Guitar, premium American builder of high quality and custom guitars and mandolins. The adornments on the Waterloo lines are simple but the materials and workmanship are solid. It’s a lot of guitar for the money. Solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. East Indian Rosewood fingerboard and ebony bridge (interesting design choice). Simple dot fret board markers, bound top and herringbone rosette. The vintage-style sunburst has a matte finish as does the back, sides and neck. The 14-fret neck is 1-3/4” at the nut with stenciled headstock and golden age replica tuners. The profile is a somewhat chunky V-shape. The jumbo design is, in essence, a narrow-waisted dreadnought with a slightly deeper body. This genius design produces big but clear basses and trebles with complementary mids. The long scale length makes it perfect for open tunings and hard driving with medium strings. This one was purchased new from Vintage Instruments in 2021 and is being sold on consignment by the original owner. Condition is like new. I’ve been reading that Collings has suspending production of the Waterloo line to meet the extraordinary demand for their main lines. As you know, it’s a challenging time for any business especially one that requires materials from all over the globe and a highly skilled work force. I’ve always wondered how Collings could make these guitars at these prices. Turns out, maybe they can’t any longer. It comes with the original hardshell case.
