1963 Gibson Firebird III "Sunburst"

When Gibson brought in famed automobile designer Ray Dietrich the resulting solid body design was as elegant as it was innovative. This first year example of the Gibson Firebird has early features like a reverse neck-thru body, comfortable large profile neck, maestro short vibrola, and "poker chip" surround on the pickup selector switch. Early Firebirds also feature a pickguard without the iconic Firebird insignia found on later examples, but the original owner added their own hood ornament style thunderbird on the guard. With no breaks or repairs this is one of the better examples we've seen and it includes the original hardshell case!
