In 1961, Gibson changed the specifications of the Les Paul model from the single-cutaway Les Paul model to a one-piece body with a deep, sharp double-cutaway and thin mahogany body. The name itself was changed to SG (abbreviation of Solid Guitar). The single-cutaway Les Paul was later revived, but the SG remained a long-selling guitar that is still on the market today. It is one of the masterpieces produced by Gibson, which has captivated many musicians, including Pete Townsend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, and Eric Clapton. This SG Special is equipped with P-90 pickups without a pickguard, and features the gorgeous treble range characteristic of single coils. The fully exposed high position makes it easy to play up to the high position, and the lightweight body makes it easy to hold, making this model very popular among petite players and women.
