Offered is this unplayed (yes, as new and unplayed) Rory Gallagher Stratocaster built by the Custom Shop in 2005. Accurately based on Rory's '61 Strat, the specs of this lightly-played collector piece include: an alder body with a total guitar weight of just 7.6 pounds with heavily aged nitro finish; a mid-60's C-shape maple neck with depth measurements of .840" at the 1st fret increasing to .945" at the 12th fret; a lovely dark rosewood fret board with 9.5" radius, medium/jumbo fret wire, a 1.650" nut and clay dots with one mismatched plastic inlay; Custom 60's single coil pickups with VTT controls and five-way switching; aged plastic parts; and mismatched Sperzel tuners. The aging on these guitar is incredible and you will love the broken-in feel as you love a well worn leather jacket. It plays like a very special old friend too and the neck shape is a very nice medium C shape that feels oh so good. The tone is everything that you would expect from a real vintage Stratocaster - fat with lots of overtones and the out-of-phase positions are incredibly faithful to Rory's own sounds. As previously noted, this guitar was collector-owned and has not been played more than a few minutes - the frets are untouched, the accessory bag unopened and the tremolo arm has never been installed. Opening the case is like opening a time capsule! It comes of course with the similarly mint brown G&G case, the certificate of authenticity and all the accessories and is like getting a brand new (albeit heavily Reliced) guitar. A great Custom Shop Strat with all the vintage vibe you could ask for!
