Description

Summary: The Telecaster Custom launched in 1972 with a newly designed humbucker pickup in in its neck position. With a wide-range humbucker at the neck and a traditional single-coil bridge pickup, this Telecaster Custom is a versatile workhorse with a great played-in look. This guitar has been modified with a 4 bolt neck plate instead of the less stable 3 bolt it came with originally.

Body: Solid body single cutaway Telecaster with a black pickguard.

Neck: Maple neck & fingerboard with dot inlays, 21 frets, 25.5” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width. This neck shows lot of fretboard wear – especially on the 2nd & 3rd blocks. The frets

Pickups/Hardware: Wide range humbucker at neck position, traditional Telecaster bridge pickup. Two volume and two tone controls. Three way pickup selector switch. Through-body bridge with individual barrel saddles – the bridge & saddles are replacements. Replacement Sperzel locking tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This vintage Fender shows lots of wear & age. This instrument has many scratches & several dings – the fingerboard shows lots of wear but the frets are in good shape & have a lot of life left in them.

Playability: This Fender plays great – we set it up with a new set of 10’s – we checked the truss rod & it is fully functional.

Modifications: This is a 3-bolt conversion to a 4-bolt so the back plate is a non-original 4 bolt plate. The tuning keys have been replaced with Sperzel locking tuners. The original holes have been filled but you can still see where they were. The original bridge has been replaced and the 6 individual saddles are also replacements. The bridge pickup has been re-wound by our in-house tech!

Weight: 9 lbs, 12 oz.

Case: This guitar comes with the original vintage hard shell Fender case with black tolex & orange interior.
