Summary

Finish: Original finish with several small touch ups. There are some touchups near the backs of the tuning machines where extra holes from previous tuners have been filled. There are also some touchups on the bottom of the body near the strap button where holes from a previously installed Bigsby have been filled.

Body Details: Laminated maple back, sides, and top. At some point a Bigsby was installed. Two mounting holes have been plugged in the top and several mounting holes have been plugged on the bottom near the strap button from the previously installed Bigsby. The original post holes for the bridge have been plugged and the bridge has been reinstalled slightly closer to the bridge pickup (for better intonation); new post holes have been drilled.

Neck Details: Set Honduran mahogany neck with bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The nut has been replaced, and the tuner post holes have been modified to fit previously installed tuners.

Electronics: Original PAF humbuckers and electronics; three-position selector switch with volume and tone controls for each pickup. No pot codes are visible. All components are period correct. The bridge pickup cover has been removed at some point and has been reinstalled.

Pickup Measurements: Neck 8.68K, Bridge 8.35K

Hardware: The nut, tuner bushings, and strap buttons have been replaced. The tuners are not original to the guitar but are period correct Kluson double ring tuners that would have been on the guitar originally.

Weight: 7 lbs 8 oz

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage guitar is in good condition with wear consistent with its age. The finish is worn and weather-checked. There are minor scratches, dents, dings, and areas of wear throughout. The edges of the headstock overlay have worn. The hardware has a strong patina.

Modifications/Repairs: At some point a Bigsby was installed. Two mounting holes have been plugged in the top and several mounting holes have been plugged on the bottom near the strap button from the previously installed Bigsby. Finish touchups are present over the filled holes in the back of the headstock and on the bottom of the body. The original post holes for the bridge have been plugged and the bridge has been reinstalled closer to the bridge pickup; new post holes have been drilled. The nut has been replaced, and the tuner post holes have been modified to fit previously installed tuners. The bridge pickup cover has been removed at some point and has been reinstalled. The tuner bushings and strap buttons have been replaced. The tuners are not original, but correct to the period and guitar.

Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action. The frets are wide and medium height with a fair amount of play wear. The serial number dates to 1961. The guitar has been owned by Eric Johnson and includes a handwritten note from him to verify this.
