Description

This is the real deal here, folks. The iconic ’57 Les Paul Jr: a bastion of elegant stripped-down simplicity that was made to tear up the stage. With its single bridge-positioned dog-eared P-90 pickup this is a guitar that can push even the most stubborn tube amp. The thick ‘50s neck is a dream to play, measuring 1 11/16th” at the nut with a 22 fret rosewood finger board. It is 24.75” scale. The plastic on the original tuners had worn a bit so we replaced them with modern Tone Pros brand equivalents. The original tuning machines are included inside the chipboard case. The output jack plate is also a replacement. The single cutaway mahogany body sports a gorgeous and original two-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish. The guitar weighs in at 7 lbs 13 ounces. Cosmetically it is in impressive shape for a guitar of this age with some small dings, a few small scratches, and light-to-moderate playwear, mostly on the sides and back of the body. There is some finish clouding on the back of the headstock and a couple spots where the paint has chipped above the nut on the front. The frets have some wear but still have life left to them. It has been set-up by our in-house tech for optimal playability and intonation. The bridge features the longer threaded post inserts Gibson introduced in ’56 that helped to keep the bridge from being pulled forward and damaging the body. Overall this Junior is a prime example of why these guitars are so beloved; it is the perfect syncing of simplicity, playability, and amazing tone. Includes chipboard case and original tuning machines.
