Description

Here we have a late 1950s Premier Bantam Deluxe with a rarer blonde/natural finish and the earlier white potted pickups (likely designed by DeArmond). It also features the original sparkle pickguard, sparkle knobs and pickup selector surround, and the original step-shaped tailpiece. The bound body body sports two F-holes and a single cutaway. It was designed by the United Company (who also did bodies for D’Angelico) by a man named Frank Frucillo. There is a serial number of 1629 on the “Multivox” metal tag that is attached to the back of the headstock. The body is 13” across by 2.75” deep. The Bantam has a 25” scale with a nut width of 1 23/32th”. The sparkle pickguard has a crack in it around where the upper screw attaches. The bridge has been replaced with a Tune-o-matic-style one but looks to have retained the original ebony footed base. The binding has nicely yellowed around the body but the neck binding is bright and white! There is some slight separation/shrinking in the binding towards the base of the neck. The black finish has worn away at the base of the neck and there is a small piece of binding missing near the neck joint. The top and sides are still nice and glossy with only a small amount of playwear and checking. The back of the body has a few scratches and some moderate finish wear. The frets show some play wear but still have a good amount of life left. This is one classy looking player that plays as good as it looks! Includes original case.
