Description: This circa 1965 Silvertone Model 1457 with amplifier case is the ultimate all-in-one guitar and amp. The finish is redburst with glitter on the top and back set off by white vinyl sides. The popular Model 1457 was in production from 1964 to 1966 and marketed by Sears. The pine and masonite body is bolted to the neck with three bolts. Surprisingly, the fretboard is Brazilian rosewood. The 21 fret neck has nine dot inlays, a scale length of 24 1/2" and is 1 11/16" at the nut. The guitar weighs a mere six pounds. The overall length of the guitar is 37 1/2" and the body is 1 1/2" deep. Electronics include Dan-o dual lipstick pickups, concentric knobs with volume and tone controls for each pickup, and a pickup selector switch. Other features include a white masonite pickguard, Dan-o chrome plated bridge with rosewood saddle, skate-key style tuners with stamped metal buttons, and a paddle shaped headstock with Silvertone logo. There are a few finish dings on the back of the neck and and edges of the headstock. The frets show a little wear. The amplifer is is in one end of the guitar case. This all-in-one setup was intended to be played with the case open sitting on end. The amp has an 8" Jensen speaker and a footswitchable temolo circuit with speed and depth control. There are 3 tubes plus rectifier. The gray vinyl covered case has a red rayon lining and a cutout speaker grill. This is cool 60's outfit that we have heard Mick Jagger, The Who and Led Zeplin all played at one time. The guitar is all original except two pickguard screws. The amp/case looks to be all original except there are new case latches and the speaker has been rebolted to the case. There is a crack in the case near the speaker grill. Both the guitar and the amplifier work great and are a kick to play.
