DESCRIPTION

Up for sale is a fantastic sounding Bell and Howell Filmosound 385 Projector that has been converted into a 15 watt tube amplifier. Inspired by Bernie Raunig and his conversions of these amp in the 1990s (famously owned by Colin Cripps) These amps were produced between 1955-1961. What makes the amps a good candidate for guitar conversions is the Power / Output transformers and the tube lineup. The transformers were made by Schumacher in the 50s (same as fender tweeds) and have identical specs to a tweed deluxe. The output transformer is what really makes the amp sing. The preamp tube lineup is (1) 5879 tube and (2) 12AX7s. The 5879 tube is unique to an amp like this and was traditionally used in Gibson amps of the same era. The power tubes are (2) 6V6GTs in push/pull and there’s a 5Y3GT tube rectifier. Total output is around 15W. This little rig sounds fantastic and would make an incredible studio or small stage amplifier.
