SN: 176192. Friends, here is a 62 YEAR OLD 1961 D-18 consignment guitar in sweet ready-to-go condition with the original case and a fresh neck reset and refret. It remains in clean, original condition throughout with the exception of an exact repro bridge and new saddle. All work recently and expertly executed by Mark Tossman. It has all the trappings of a vintage post WWII Martin that has been played honestly and aged gracefully. The Sitka top is now a lovely patina and shows little playwear and some handling scuffs. The rosewood fretboard has aged to a nice dark brown. The original finish is 99% intact and fresh looking and has sunken into the grain exactly as it should. The top is quite well behaved with no pulling or cupping. The mahogany back and sides show less wear than you’d expect with the only real blemish being a small amount of strap burn in the rim on the butt end. The neck is nice and straight with just a little finish missing from a thumb in the “cowboy chord” position. Original Kluson tuners look and work as they should. Insides are clean, original and age appropriate including the bridge plate. The case is a baby blue molded plastic rig with the blue felt interior, probably not original to the guitar but keeping it well preserved for 50+ years. This is a great place to start a vintage collection at a super fair price.
