This is a Collings 0M1 from December of 1994, the the very first year of production, with a four digit serial number and the label signed by the sorely missed founder Bill Collings. Usually, I prefer the Martin sound over the more trebly characteristic Collings guitar sound but this one is different due to the age, well played in Sitka top and mahogany back and sides. It sounds like a Martin 0M-18 with sparkle in all the right places. I guess that’s why Collings came up with the traditional series to dial back the trebles a bit. Well, this one sounds like a traditional to me. There are a few worn places as seen in the pictures but no cracks or other transgressions. There are a couple small dings on the back of the neck but nothing bothersome to the hand. This one is well played-in and is one of the first ones- maybe made by Bill himself. Very nice shape for 28 years old. It plays very well with a 1-3/4″ nut, 2-3/16″ at the bridge string spacing, 3/32″ x shy 3-3/32″ at the twelfth, and a shy 1/8″ of saddle. Check out the demos for sound and see if you like it…Great Guitar!!!
