Description

If you are a fan of Collings electrics (we certainly are), here is a particularly luscious piece for your consideration. Offered is this "fully loaded" Collings City Limits built in 2017 and in near mint condition.

This guitar has been given a few unique specs which make a great guitar even better, including a superbly "aged" Faded Iced Te nitrocellulose lacquer finish, parallelogram fingerboard inlays and probably the best pickups currently being made, a set of ThroBak ER humbuckers. Other vitals include: a solid Honduran Mahogany body and neck; a total guitar weight of just 8 pounds, 1 ounce; an Indian Rosewood fretboard with 24-7/8" scale length, 12" radius, 1-11/16" bone nut and medium frets; a medium/fat "C" shape neck (.865" - .965"); extra long mortise/tenon neck joint; fully-adjustable truss rod; ivoroid binding on the top and neck; ebony headstock overlay with inlaid MOP logo; cream pickup rings, pickguard and tuner buttons; and for electronics, the Throbaks with aged covers, 50's style wiring with CTS 500K pots and Jupiter caps.

As I have said many times before, as LP-style guitars go, you have to spend a lot more money to do better than a Collings City Limits. This guitar plays with incredible ease and sounds fabulous - much like an LP only better! Please listen to the brief sound sample provided. ThroBaks are thought by many to be the best pickups you can buy for a reason. Few LP's can match the performance and playability of this guitar, particularly at this price point. The very realistic finish checking and patina that Collings has given this guitar make for an instrument that looks and feels like a vintage piece.

Other than the factory aging, this guitar is in near mint condition and the frets are spotless. This fabulous guitar comes in an equally fabulous Collings case by Ameritage, along with the original paperwork. A new example with these options will cost you $6,200, but you can a significant sum on this superb 2017 example.
