The original Guild Starfire bass was a classic of ‘60s rock, beloved by Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, Jack Cassidy of Jefferson Airplane, and countless other holders of the low notes. This late 1990s re-issue from the fine folks at DeArmond is a fantastic approximation of the original at a much more affordable price point! The Starfire bass was produced shortly after Fender acquired both DeArmond and Guild, combining their forces to come up with an inexpensive yet faithful version of it. The bound laminated double cutaway maple body features a semi-hollow design like the original and weighs in at about 8 ½ lbs. The antique sunburst finish looks gorgeous and only adds to the vintage look and feel of this reissue. It sports a set maple neck with a bound rosewood finger board and 21 jumbo frets. It has a 30.75” scale and measures 1 11/16th” at the nut. The dual USA-made DeArmond 2B Dual-coil humbucking pickups have a brighter tone than the Starfires, especially coupled with the more simplified circuitry. However the sound is still full with tons of low end to spare. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition with no visible wear other than some very light scratches on the top below the bridge. It has been professionally set-up by our staff guitar tech for optimal playability and intonation. These DeArmond Starfires are looked upon by those in the know as one of the best deals you’ll find on the bass market! Why not give this one a spin and find out why! Includes gig bag.
