Description

This guitar is not only a ripping SG-style strummer but also an eye-catching piece of art! Made in Japan in the early 1970s, this 2247 is an early version that featured a bolt-on neck (later models adopted a neck-thru design) and a more Gibson-like “open book” headstock. The headstock and neck are both bound. It also sports the Gibson-esque diagonal Electra logo on the headstock. The two original humbucking pickups (a chrome-covered one in the neck and an uncovered black one in the bridge) have tons of bite and growl to them, making this a fantastic guitar for classic rock, alternative, punk, and grunge. The big draw of this guitar is obviously the intricately carved leaf and vine motif of the mahogany body and the gorgeous abalone vine inlays on the maple fretboard. Cosmetically this one is in exceptional shape for a near-40 year old guitar with only a few small dings at the bottom of the body, some pick scratches on the guard, and some very light dings on the back of the body. The guitar has been set up by our staff tech for optimal intonation and playability. It looks to be all-original, sporting Electra branded tuners, bridge with Les Paul-style stop tail piece, black speed knobs, and B/W/B pickguard. Includes original hard shell case.
