Fantastic flyweight and historically noteworthy Epiphone "Dwight Model" Coronet here for your viewing and playing pleasure. These "Dwights" were manufactured starting in 1961 as a house brand used by Gibson for Sonny Shields Music in East Saint Louis, IL, a store which was owned by Charles “Dwight” Shields. This 1965 model is among the second version featuring the classic Epiphone "batwing" headstock with "Dwight model" on the truss rod cover. Too cool!

This one weighs all of 5lbs, 13oz. All original but one extra strap button (3 total, which we see a lot of and is a good thing) -- no cracks or repairs, no excuses. So fun to play, incredibly lively and vibey, with a nice full neck that's not a hand killer but beefier than the sometimes disappointingly wimpy necks of later 60's guitars. Great action, no neck work needed. Killer metal-covered "Dog Ear" P-90, understated Epiphone vibrola, light and resonant, and hey -- it feels, plays, and sounds like a Gibson of the era because they were made in the same factory by the same hands. You know what these are, make no mistake. These Coronets really bridge the gap between a full-chunk circa '60 LP Jr body and an SG body that might be too thin for your liking, and the aesthetic is more off the beaten path in the best way. Surfy? Sure. Punk rock? Totally. Artsy? Yeah it is. It's your thing. We love 'em here.
