Want something really rare that doesn't require a second mortgage? Back in the 50's, the grown up guitar was an archtop. Leave those Stratoblasters to the kids and let the big boys play something with some class. 50's Emperors aren't crazy rare but this one is. It is equipped with factory Dearmonds. These are great pickups-Gretsch used them in the days before humbuckers, Guild used them They are wonderful pickups. I've only seen two Emperors and a couple Zephyrs with these pickups. This guitar looks brand new. The only giveaway that it isn't is some binding shrinkage, specifically at the end pin and the heel cap. Finish is stunning. The wood is stunning. The neck profile is great and the tone is the big surprise. This guitar has a ton of range. The pickup selector is a little archaic but it works just fine. It strung up with flats right now and it sounds really good. It will brighten up considerably with round wounds. All original except for the pick guard. The original fell apart and is in the case. The photos of the guard shows the logo but it's not glued on and will be in the case. I think the guard that's on it is a correct vintage guard. Nearly 70 years old and ready go another 70 years. Brown Lifton case possibly original.
