Summary: The Epiphone Sheraton II is not only one of Epiphone's most famous electric archtops, it's also one of the most elegant. The Sheraton II's beautiful binding, historic Tree-of-Life headstock inlay, and gold hardware, instantly elevates the guitar (and its player!) to center stage. For Epiphone designers of the late 50s, the original Sheraton was a radical new approach combining the power of a solidbody with the easy-to-carry feel of an archtop. In fact, the Sheraton was one of the first guitars Epiphone exhibited at the 1958 NAMM show to announce it was back in business. Today, the modern Sheraton II has many of the same features that made the original Sheraton a classic but with a few choice refinements. Epiphone devotee John Lee Hooker had the ultimate Sheraton II description when he called it an "out done 335." This particular Sheraton II is in wonderful shape, just got setup with low action by our in house luthier, strung up with new set of 10’s and ships in a hard-shell case!

Body: The Sheraton II features a laminated semi-hollow maple body with a mahogany center block, just like the vintage originals. This beautiful instrument has 5-ply W/B/W binding on the top & a fully bound back – the f-holes are also fully bound.

Neck: The 5 piece hard maple ‘SlimTaper’ C profile neck is glued-in and set by hand and features a 24.75" scale with a 1.68" nut, 22 medium jumbo frets, a rosewood fingerboard with "Block and Triangle" Pearloid/Abalone fretboard inlays, and the historic Epiphone "Tree of Life" headstock inlay. The Sheraton II features gold tuning machines.

Pickups/Hardware: It has gold hardware, 2 humbucking pickups, 2 volumes, 2 tones, 3 way toggle, gold Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge providing steady intonation. While the original Sheraton featured a split-trapeze Frequensator tailpiece, the modern Sheraton-II features a gold stop-bar tailpiece for improved sustain. The bound pickguard has a "tortoise" style look with a classic metal "E". The Sheraton II also features high quality electronic parts including full-size, 1" 500K Ohm potentiometers and a heavy-duty output jack.

Cosmetics: This Sheraton is in fine shape, has no cracks breaks or visible repairs and the frets are in fantastic shape with no gouges in them. There are some minor scuffs on the top, to be expected for a guitar of its age, some pick scratches on the pickguard, some buckle rash on the back but no major dings or eye catching flaws-this guitar is a beauty. There are some small cracks in the binding at the fret ends, not uncommon for bound necked guitars.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck.
