We have had this beautiful and rare Favino guitar here in our personal collection for over thirty years, and it is now time for it to find a new home. From the workshop of the great Jacques Favino of Paris, made, labeled and signed by Jacques himself. It is a most unique Favino; I’ve never seen nor heard of another like it. Rather than the standard design copied in its entirety from the Selmer guitars, this one, while of that size and shape, has got unique bridge and soundhole designs. The bridge appears to be of the classical type, glued on and with strings going through it, and with its fan-type bracing under the top would seem to have been made for nylon strings, but a close internal inspection reveals that there are original, hidden metal reinforcements and an extra-strength bridge plate, indicating an intent for steel strings, and nice light ones at that; an .011 set is perfect. With its 16-1/2” wide body and 26-1/4”(!) scale, it’s also got all the strength of the most traditional Gypsy guitars, and it has the sound too. Rosewood back and sides in the traditional manner with solid spruce top, this guitar virtually sings, and at a huge volume. Perfect action, excellent frets, original French SB tuners, and never a repair or crack anywhere. Quite the remarkable instrument, with I’ll warrant not another like it to be found available anywhere. Interior label marked “Jacques Favino / “Luthier artisan - Paris / no 3. Jazz / No. 48 de la serie / 23 Avril 1977”. $6395 w/hsc
